Adding Attachments

Obviously a welcome message but also a description of what this forum is about. Also a few tips about using the forum and associated pages.

Adding Attachments

Systems without diagrams would be like ....
a bike with no wheels?

Therefore we have activated the ability to upload attachments.
But please use this facility responsibly and do not try to download huge attachments.
The maximum file size is set to 256KB which is more than enough for a diagram.

There is no point posting an image a lot wider than 600 pixels as it won't fit on some screens.
Please save your images as a jpg (with compression) or a png (also compressed).

If you are not sure how to go about resizing or compressing your images then post here and we will try to help.

What about gifs then? They're usually quite compact files as they have fewer colours.

@ Mercurius
Thanks for your reminder.
Of course you can use gif files however all modern browsers support png and it is generally considered to be a superior format.

For some of the pros and cons take a look at Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_N ... n_with_GIF

What I was trying to say was "do not use bmps or tifs". They eat memory.

Have fun

When I tried to attach the original PDF file of the OUDES November 22 event flyer earlier on, a pop-up message came up saying that I was not allowed to do so. I worked around the problem by "print screen" and saving it as a JPEG. However, I think it might be useful to be able to upload PDF documents sooner or later. Is it just me encountering this problem?

And I assume sooner is better than later so I have allowed pdf files.
