I really liked VSM and the course did say you had to run the Viplan software if you wanted to use it in the exam but like the others I never loaded it, I just read the Viplan manual, plus i went on a VSM workshop which it turned out covered the Viplan bit enough to make it easy to understand.

If you find you want to use VSM then suggest you read the Viplan manual and perhaps buy Patrick's book (can't remember the title but I'll find it) that should cover it, but if you aren't going to use VSM then Viplan software is not necessary to complete the course.

I think he's working extra hard to prove how much he isn't favouring MS software. I'm sure normal service will resume after a couple of anomalies such as this!

However, that does look like a very interesting course.

I tried to install and run Linux, (redhat), a few years ago and came to a grinding halt when simple things like graphics card drivers presented endless problems, possible some PEBCAC* but it still seeemed unnecessarily complicated to me. Maybe this idiots guide will help.

a few years ago and came to a grinding halt

I also started a few years ago with the Ubuntu dialect of Linux.
I kept a diary and looking back I had a lot of problems.
But now, 2 or 3 years on, I would never go back.

Some times there are challenges but I always think of the saying
"it is better to do the right thing wrong rather than keep doing the wrong thing better and better"

I now have Linux on this netbook and both PCs tht I run at home.

Can't speak for the new VC, but T155 Linux: an introduction was long into the 'OU faculty development and approval machine' before any senior exec appointments were announced. You may wish to see a blog post on this @ http://www.greenhughes.com/content/inte ... nux-course
